Problem Scenario

Ideal:

Stop sleeping late at night

Reality (gap):

I often stay up too late, leading to grogginess and low energy the next day

Causes/Conditions

I watch shows or browse online at night and don’t have a strict bedtime routine.

Effects/Results

I struggle to wake up, feel less productive, and have lower overall energy.

Goal:

Establish an earlier bedtime and wake up feeling refreshed.

Possible Change

Set a fixed bedtime, limit screen time before bed, and develop a wind-down routine.

Testing the Hypothesis > Solution

I started going to bed 30 minutes earlier each night, turned off devices an hour before sleep, and used a nighttime routine.

Outcome of Change:

I felt more rested in the morning, had better focus, and maintained a consistent sleep schedule.

My academic journey began with a diploma in civil engineering from Singapore Polytechnic, which I completed in 2024. The foundation of my passion for civil engineering was laid during my first year, where I discovered the fascinating world of structural design and analysis. The challenge of creating safe and efficient structures inspired me to further my studies and strive to contribute meaningfully to the industry.

When it comes to communication, I take pride in my ability to convey ideas clearly and work seamlessly in team settings. A memorable example was during a group project where my effective communication skills facilitated productive discussions and successful collaboration. To my interpretation of this quote, Marc Riemer emphasizes the pivotal role of communication skills in both the education and professional development of engineering students. These skills are fundamental for academic success, as they enable students to clearly articulate technical ideas, collaborate effectively with peers, and excel in tasks such as report writing, presentations, and group projects. In the field of engineering, where precise and structured communication is essential, these abilities facilitate the seamless exchange of ideas and the collaborative development of solutions. Beyond academia, communication is a cornerstone of career preparedness, as engineers must often work in teams and convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders such as clients or management.
